How to make sausage forks in 8 steps?

I love evenings spent by the campfire. It’s a time when I can relax, enjoy the warmth of the flames, and think about new projects. Recently, I came up with the idea of making my own sausage forks to make grilling even more enjoyable and efficient.

I decided to create forks from stainless steel because it’s a durable material, resistant to rust, and easy to clean. Thanks to them, grilling sausages has become a pure pleasure. The forks are sturdy, comfortable to use, and perform their function excellently.

In this guide, step by step, I will show you how to make such forks yourself so that you too can enjoy excellent equipment for your campfire evenings.

How to make sausage forks? Step by step.

Step 1: Fork Handles

For my project, I chose thick wooden handles because they are more comfortable. I burned my logo onto them, and then sealed them with oil.

Step 2: Modifying the Fork Attachment

I don’t like the press-fit attachment method of the forks available in stores, so I decided to connect my forks to the handle using screws. To make it easier to weld the screw to the fork, I drilled a pilot hole on the lathe.

Step 3: Welding the Fork Rod to the Screw

Once I had the complete set of screws ready, I welded a rod of 100 cm length to each of them.

Step 4: Creating Forked Ends

I cut several pieces, each 20 cm long, from a 4 mm diameter wire to create the forked ends.

Step 5: Welding the End to the Connector

From one of my previous projects, I had a tool for clamping, welding, and bending rods left over. I welded a previously cut piece of rod to the connector.

Step 6: Bending

After welding, I bent the wire into the shape of a fork.

Step 7: Assembling the Fork

I drilled holes in the handles, then screwed a connector with the forks into each of them.

Step 8: Grilling the Sausages

Now that I have the forks ready, it’s time to grill the sausages over the campfire. I can now enjoy preparing these delicious snacks outdoors, using my new tools.

Project Summary

My forks are slightly longer than standard, measuring 120 cm in length with a comfortable, thick handle. They are made entirely of stainless steel, making them easy to clean and exceptionally durable. During their production, I focused on functionality and user comfort, which I hope translates into practicality in everyday use.

Thanks to the use of sturdy connectors and meticulous craftsmanship, my forks not only meet my expectations in terms of aesthetics and utility but also provide a durable solution for many years to come.

I hope that my experiences and tips shared in this post can at least somewhat assist in making your own forks or inspire you to create something unique. Crafting your own tools can be not only satisfying but also allows for customization to suit your specific needs and preferences.

Wishing you successful experiments and enjoyable grilling!!
