Bird bistro: Simple and elegant idea for bird feeding.

Hello on my blog!

Today I want to show you how you can easily repurpose old jars. Instead of throwing them away, we can give them a second life! Just transform them into small bird feeders. It’s a simple, quick, and eco-friendly solution that helps us reduce waste, while also providing our beautiful winged visitors with a tasty treat. See for yourself how to do it – I guarantee it’s really easy!

Are you ready? Let’s get started!

Lately, with my little one, we switched to jarred purees. We’ve collected quite a few jars, and that’s why I wanted to reuse them, but in a slightly different way than for jams or juices. This time, I used them to create a simple bird feeder.

Step by step, here’s how I made a bird feeder from jars.

First, I looked for jars that would be a perfect fit for a bird feeder. I wanted them not to be too deep and to have a wide enough opening for a large lid. The jars from purees turned out to be ideal. The diameter and depth of the jar are approximately 7 cm, making them a perfect choice.

Once I had the jars, I proceeded to prepare loose bird feed, lard, and small sticks for the birds to perch on while pecking at the seeds.

I removed the labels from the jars as they will be hung in the garden, and over time, the label might peel off on its own, potentially making the feeder look less aesthetically pleasing.

The next step was to prepare the bird food. First, I gently heated the lard until it melted completely, then I poured the seeds into the jar and covered everything with the warm melted lard.

I gently stirred the seeds coated in lard with a spoon, and on one side, I inserted a stick all the way to the bottom.

In the next step, I placed the jars in the refrigerator overnight to allow the lard to solidify properly.

The next day, I hung the homemade bird feeders in the garden.

Thank you for joining me in this simple, budget-friendly, and quick project with jars. Making homemade bird food doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. With just a bit of creativity and willingness, the results are truly satisfying! Also, remember that the jars, once the birds have finished everything, can be reused.

See you in the next post, full of new inspirations!
